This galley kitchen remodel created a functional light-filled space with an elegance and modern aesthetic previously missing, while adding cabinetry and counter-space you would usually find in a much larger kitchen.

We turned the previously existing eating nook into a breakfast bar by extending the countertop with a cantilevered slab to create the perfect space for a quick bite, or for guests to mingle.

This bright contemporary kitchen allows for an abundance of light with its recessed lighting, undermount cabinetry lighting, modern pendant light, and large windows.

The elegant custom curly maple cabinetry, soapstone countertops, cork flooring and stainless-steel appliances provide timeless beauty and functionality to the home’s kitchen.

The many custom features to this small kitchen provide useable and accessible storage space, while adding architectural interest.

The stainless steel professional series appliances and oversized white tile are a beautiful compliment to the warmth of the wood cabinetry and soapstone countertop.

The thin modern edge of the soapstone and elegant drawer handles accentuate the warmth of the curly maple cabinets.

The task was to add much-needed cabinet and counter space to this 1950’s galley kitchen without changing the footprint of the original. We were able to accomplish this by relocating the existing laundry space, enabling us to extend the cabinetry and countertop. We created additional space by extending counters into the existing eating nook, which is a perfect spot for mingling guests or a quick meal. With an abundance of natural materials including book-matched curly maple cabinets, cork flooring, and a thin soapstone slab countertop, that provides a natural and softening contrast to the precision of the stacked, elongated white subway tile and stainless-steel appliances. The materials blend and balance with the owners’ folk art collection.
